Tips for Planning Your Dream Bathroom

by Columbus Bath Design |October 24, 2019 |0 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling | , ,

dream bathroomEverybody deserves their own little slice of heaven. For many people, there’s nothing quite like having a beautifully revamped dream bathroom where they can relax, unwind, and leave their worries behind. If you’re interested in updating or totally remodeling your bathroom, then you’ve come to the right place. Whether your style is modern and chic or comfortable and cozy—Columbus Bath Design can help you design the bathroom you’ve always wanted.

Dream Bathroom Key Considerations

There are a few key areas you should focus on if you’re interested in a bathroom update or remodel. We understand the process can feel complex. That’s why we’re here to help you every step of the way. Let’s kick this off by starting with some of the key considerations you should keep in mind as you move throughout the design process.

Customization

First, consider what your dream bathroom looks like to you. This part of the process requires a little creativity. You’ll want to start by considering the ambiance you would like to create. Perhaps you want a spa-like feel, or you prefer something simpler that is more geared toward functionality. Even if you aren’t sure of the proper design terms, you can start by looking at pictures and discussing what you like or don’t like about each design aspect. As you make these decisions, you’ll quickly realize that you have a design concept that you prefer.

The Basics of Getting Your Dream Bathroom

Starting a bathroom remodel can feel overwhelming. After all, there are so many choices! However, it’s best to start with the basics. You can narrow in on your design by simply beginning with the color scheme. While the color of the space may feel like a fundamental decision (and it is!), it can go a long way in helping you narrow down which fixtures and décor will enhance the space. Perhaps you prefer something bright and welcoming, or maybe you like something calm and tranquil—that one decision about color will get you on the path toward designing your perfect bathroom!

Identify the Trends

While it’s certainly essential to understand that trends come and go, you also want to be aware of the hottest designs in the market. Right now, we see a lot of combinational bathrooms with soaker tubs and walk-in showers. People want the best of both worlds, so often, if there is enough space for both, then that is what we do!

There are primarily two broad design choices that people lean towards: minimal or functional. Of course, there is a lot of room for customization in each category. Minimal designs focus more on keeping the space open and modern. Functional designs tend to be more focused on how space can be easily used and comfortable.

Products and accessories can go a long way towards bringing a design scheme to life. The fun part of the design process is when we bring together tile choice, lighting fixtures, faucets, and all the other finer details. The best part about it? You can take things you like from different designs and bring them together in a way that makes sense for you and your space.

Personalizing Your Dream Bathroom

The critical thing to remember is that this space should be designed for the people who live in it. While trends can certainly be a great point of inspiration, the process is all about personalizing the space so that you feel the most comfortable in it.

The hottest trend in any kind of design project these days is just how much it focuses on the personality of the customer. Your preferences should be apparent through every step of the process. While we can help you hone in on colors and products that will make the most of the space, your style should be at the forefront of the design. We will help you get there!

Details, Details, Details

No matter the design you choose, make sure that functionality is part of it. You’ll want to be sure that your space has plenty of usable storage and that the flow of the room makes sense. Using different types of baskets, totes, or bins can really bring the space together.

Everything from tub size to faucet design can play a critical role in how you use your bathroom. Giving some thought to the finer details can go a long way in ensuring that the space is the most comfortable and useful space possible.

Showers vs. Tubs

by Columbus Bath Design |July 26, 2019 |5 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling |

Some folks love to take simple showers, others look forward to a long and relaxing soak in the tub. While both “getting clean” styles have their benefits, most of us are either “shower people” or “bath people.” Naturally, there are always those who like to switch it up every so often, but generally speaking, you are either on “team shower” or “team bath.” Hmmm…do they make a T-shirt for that?

In any event, some people just do not have room for a tub or the time in the day to take a bath even if they did have more space for one to be installed. Showering is surely quicker and more convenient, but what about those with kids? There are many important factors that go into the choice to either go with a shower or a tub, so weighing all the options for what you can do with your bathroom is advisable, and with Columbus Bath Design, also affordable.

Here are some benefits of both the shower and the tub, and perhaps seeing them in print will help you make a well-informed decision as to your next step in your bathroom redesign. And the good thing is, Columbus Bath Design offers tub-to-shower and shower-to-tub conversions. So you do not necessarily have to stick with what you’ve already got. Flexibility is fun, so think about a redo if it feels right and your bathroom size and style would suit the switch-up.

What Are Some Of The Benefits Of Having A Shower In My Bathroom Rather Than A Bathtub?

Showers are sleeker. You will have more room overall in the bathroom when you opt for a stand-up, space-saving shower instead of a bigger bath. When you have a bathroom that is on the smaller size, going for a shower will open up the space, giving the illusion of a larger bathroom. And when you opt for one of our luxury glass shower doors, the clear component is not only classy, but adds even more openness.

Showers are much more energy efficient. You will use less water while showering than by filling a bath…unless you take super long, fingertip-pruning showers. If saving energy is something that is important to you and your family, then going for a shower is the eco-friendly choice you will feel more comfortable with.

Showers lend themselves to easy access, in and out. Some people have issues with getting into and out of a bathtub, be it the elderly or those with physical limitations. You can always install a safety seat in the shower for those who need it for support.

Showers are more convenient. You do not have to wait around like you do for the tub to fill, something that can be a real time-sucker when you need to get ready for work or school in a snap. When you are ready to get clean, pop in and pop out.

What Are Some Of The Benefits Of Having A Bathtub In My Bathroom Rather Than A Shower?

Baths are super relaxing. Imagine sitting and soaking after a long day at work or first thing on Sunday morning before brunch. You can listen to soft music, fill the tub with bubbles, and ease your tension and stress, all while getting clean. Sounds pretty nice, huh?

Baths are helpful for those with small children. When you are still at the stage where you are cleaning your kids, doing so in the shower means you are getting in too…and getting wet. You can put your little one in the bath without the bother of trying to get the shampoo out of their eyes…and yours, for that matter. Not to mention, rubber duckies don’t have nearly as much fun in the shower.

Baths can have a shower head installed in the wall too. You can have the option of bathing or showering in one spot. This is perfect for the person who loves the idea of both options and a smart solution for families with varied needs.

Baths are something buyers seek out. Your home has more value when there is a bathtub in at least one of the bathrooms. If you think you may sell your place at some point down the road, installing a bathtub is a smart investment you will be glad you made.

So, what’ll it be? A shower or a bathtub? Still can’t decide? That’s what the Columbus Bath Design team is here for. To help you figure out what option would work best for you as well as the space you are working with. We have so many options to choose from, perfect for bathrooms of all sizes and shapes, as well as your personal style. Give us a call at 614-721-3884 or come visit our spectacular showroom and we’ll give you a taste of what’s possible.

Refresh Your Home with a Bathroom Remodel

by Columbus Bath Design |March 22, 2019 |12 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling | , , ,

Spring is here and the warmer temperatures are bringing new life. As flowers are blooming and trees are turning green again, you might feel like the inside of your home needs some refreshing as well. Spring cleaning can freshen up any home, but sometimes you have to make a big change to really start anew. Think about a space that gets a lot of use by everyone that enters your home. That’s right, the bathroom. The bathrooms in your home could probably use some love this spring, and what better way to brighten them up than to give them a new look? Below, I’ll answer some questions you may have about remodeling your bathroom.

How can a bathroom remodel freshen up my home this spring?

Bringing a fresh look to any space can change your attitudes and feelings toward the space itself. Adding new shelving to a cramped closet, changing the color of your bedroom walls, or simply buying a new welcome mat for outside your door can give you a new lease on life in your home. So how about your bathrooms? The bathroom is a space you, your family, and your guests use all the time. From getting ready in the morning all the way to preparing for bed, your bathroom is a constant throughout your day. Remodeling a bathroom, even if you simply paint the walls, can freshen up the entire house. Everyone knows that a fresh coat of paint can make rooms seem brighter, cleaner, and more modern. As a centerpiece in your home, the bathroom has a lot of sway in how your home is seen and how it functions. Tackling a full bathroom remodel can seem like an unconquerable beast. There’s so much to do! New tubs, new sinks, new faucets, the list goes on! However, at Columbus Bath Design, we take all the hard work off your shoulders and deliver the bathroom you’ve always wished for. Let us handle the nitty gritty details of remodeling your bathroom while you sit back and relax through the process! At the end, you’ll have a stunning bathroom that you’ll be excited to put to use.

How can a remodel add benefit to your home?

A remodel could seem like a drastic step if you’re simply looking to freshen up your home. However, in addition to adding new energy to your home, a remodel can add multiple benefits and value to your home as well. With updated tiles, tubs, sinks, cabinets, and toilets, a remodel of your bathroom can make your home more valuable overall. In the future, if you choose to move from your current home to somewhere new, an updated bathroom will be a huge selling point. As for day to day benefits, the list is long! Is there something in your bathroom that just doesn’t work quite right or causes you to be annoyed often? May it be a sticky drawer, a leaky faucet, or a toilet that runs day and night, small issues like this will be resolved during your remodel. However, the huge benefit of a remodel is that you’re redoing everything from top to bottom. This means that bigger issues can be handled as well. Say the space in your bathroom isn’t used efficiently: the counter juts out too much and you always hit your hip bone on it or the toilet feels just a little too close to the tub. With a remodel, these structural annoyances or issues can be resolved. Investing in a remodel of you bathroom is never a bad idea. You can get rid of issues that have plagued you each and everyday!

Where do I start?

First things first, you must decide if a remodel seems right for you. If it does, begin brainstorming about the look and feel that you want to achieve with your bathroom. How Can a Bathroom Remodel Add Value to Your Home?

by Columbus Bath Design |February 28, 2019 |15 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling, homeowners | ,

If you’re looking for a way to add value to your home, a bathroom remodel is a great place to start. Not only will you and your family enjoy your new space, but if you decide to sell your home in the future, a brand-new bathroom is a great selling feature. Columbus Bath Design Design, located in Columbus, Ohio specializes in bathroom remodeling and makes the process efficient, cost-effective and seamless for you.

How can a remodel add value to my home?

According to builders and contractors, a bathroom is a place that potential buyers view as either finished or as a project they’ve got to do.  A project, or update, will require more money and can sometimes turn a potential buyer away from the purchase. However, a well-structured renovation can recoup up to one hundred percent of the investment. People are not only searching for style and design but also energy efficient and environmentally sound products, which Columbus Bath Design can offer in large supply.

An outdated bathroom gives the impression that other things in the house may be outdated as well. When remodeling, it is a good time to also upgrade the plumbing and electrical features. Building codes may have changed since your home was built and potential buyers may have a concern when seeing an older bathroom. If you find a problem and then repair it, you can increase the value of your home as well.

The average cost of remodeling a new bathroom varies greatly from area to area. The age of the house and the general condition also play a role. You must decide how much of an investment you are willing to budget.  Do you just need new fixtures and a backsplash or are you looking at a gut job?

How should I start planning my remodel?

Keep in mind the style of your existing home.  When adding value to your home, you shouldn’t “go overboard” on modern high-end furnishings if your home has a rustic design. Likewise, consider if the buyers will think that a tub is a waste of space and better suited for a high-end shower. Also, if your home has only one bath, maybe think about adding a second bath to accommodate a larger family. Even though people like the charm of an older home, today’s busy schedules tend to see the need for a second bathroom.  You can check other homes in the area to see if adding a second bathroom will help you compete in the market.

Will a remodel be worth my investment?

Where do you get the most return on your investment in remodeling a bathroom? Updated fixtures and lighting appeal to most buyers. Functionality and usability are also among the must-haves. Storage is another premium for most families. A well-planned design will make the most from unused and awkward spaces. Luxury touches, such as separate shower areas and heated floors, are also worth considering, depending on your home and location.  Lighting, and plenty of it, can make a bathroom feel larger, warm and inviting. Columbus Bath Design has design experts and master plumbers who do only bathroom remodels which makes them an ideal company to work with on your bathroom updates.

If you are not planning to sell your home any time soon, make your bathroom remodel to suit your family’s needs, but keep in mind that everyone might not have the same taste as you do. Choosing a color scheme can be stressful, but always remember that neutral colors will allow the next homeowner to add their own pops of color with linens and accessories. The same can be said for adding lighting and fixtures.

What should I change during my remodel?

Most older homes have only a single sink, whereas, today’s homebuyers typically require a second sink, especially in a master bathroom.  If room permits, adding a second sink will appeal to a buyer, but also will make your bathroom more functional for your family.

Also, consider changing the shower head.  This can make a world of difference cosmetically and efficiency wise.  You can upgrade the shower fixture and shower head for a luxurious feel with the right components. Today’s homebuyers are looking for features that are aesthetically pleasing and functionally appealing.

According to the National Board of Realtors, on a scale of 1–10 a bathroom remodel, done right, is about a 9.6 for potential buyers. Additionally, families will enjoy this newly renovated space as well.

Most people do not live in the magazine picture perfect bathrooms.  They want clean lines and usable space. Don’t overdo the space with ornate fixtures if the rest of your house is styled in rustic features. Keep in mind that you will be living there until which time you decide to put it on the market. Consider what works for you and your family will probably work for potential buyers.

Remodeling a bathroom will add value and beauty to your home. Columbus Bath Design’s professionals can help guide you through the remodel process and ensure your bath will be both a wise investment and a beautifully functional space to enjoy for years. Call Columbus Bath Design today to schedule an estimate (614) 475-7700.

How to Find the Right Accessories for Your New Bathroom

by Columbus Bath Design |October 5, 2018 |0 Comments | Bathroom Accessories | , , , , , ,

You’ve done the planning, you’ve decided on your bathroom fixtures, the sink, the toilet, and the shower. Now it’s time to accessorize! If you search bathroom accessories on Google you will see a wide range of shopping options from thousands of online stores. Stop a headache, save time, energy, and maybe even some money by following these five tips for finding the right accessories for your new bathroom.

Know What You’re Looking For

When the time comes to furnish your bathroom you will be faced with more accessory options than you’ll know what to do with. It is important to know what you are looking for before you begin the search. With a wide variety of different accessories to fill your space, it is best to be prepared with a list of items you are going to want and need. Think of the three major areas of the bathroom; the shower/bath, the sink area, and the toilet and create a list of accessories needed for each area.

For example, take a look at the sink. In this section of the room, you may need several accessories such as a soap dish for bar soap or a pump for liquid soap, a place to store your toothbrush, hand towels and a towel rack, a tissue dispenser, a makeup mirror, and a floor mat. Make an extensive list like this for every part of your bathroom so you know exactly what you need to find for each space.

Identify Your Style

Before diving into the task of shopping, it is best to decide what the style of the room should be.  Whatever style you want there are accessories to match. Some examples of style options would include modern, rustic, beach-themed, minimalistic, among many other styles. When discussing your bathroom’s style you should also reference the look and feel of the rest of your house. Do you want the bathroom to match the rest of your house or are you okay with it being different? The last thing you want is to take the time to search for and buy your accessories only to find that what you have picked is not cohesive.

Think About Functionality

There are two things you need to ask yourself when thinking about function, what functions does my bathroom have and what functions does my bathroom need?  There are a number of different accessories which can add functionality to your bathroom, for example, you may need a trash can or a toilet paper holder.

As mentioned before, one decision you may need to make is what type of soap you and your family use. If you use bar soap, do you need to buy a soap tray? Or if you use liquid soap, do you need a dispenser? Or maybe your new bathroom already has a tray or dispenser built in and you do not need to buy either. Knowing what function your bathroom needs to serve will help you find the right accessories.

Establish a Budget

It’s best to know your budget before you go off to buy your accessories. Bathroom accessories can vary greatly in price, so it is important to know how much you can spend total. This will give you a better idea of what to pay for each item. Having a budget will keep your design goals realistic and help you to stay on track during the shopping process.

Make a List

Who doesn’t love checking off a list? After you have taken the time to know what you’re looking for, know your style, know their function, and know your budget it’s time to put together a shopping list of exactly what you need. While shopping you can easily check off an item you buy, make sure you don’t forget anything, and stay away from items you don’t need. Once you have your shopping list, it’s time to head to the store to accessorize the bathroom of your dreams!

Be sure you make the most out of your new bathroom and add all the right accessories to get the most out of your space. Taking a little time to research your bathroom accessories needs will help make your shopping trip go much smoother. As always, do not forget to contact your bathroom experts here at Columbus Bath Design for all of your designing needs. We are here to make the process as smooth as possible.

A bathroom is an integral and decorative part of the home. A well-accessorized bathroom should be as pleasing and inviting as the rest of the house. Warm light, beautiful tile floors, state-of-the-art showers, deep bathtubs, and sparkling fixtures will bring your bathroom to the next level. Let our professionals at Columbus Bath Design help you create the bathroom of your dreams.

Fixtures

Fixtures such as shower heads and faucets no longer have to be dull and boring. Our customers can choose our oil rubbed bronze shower heads, towel rings, faucets and shower doors. Our faucets can even be single or double handled.

If you and your family are wary of reaching for that bar of soap you’ve put on the rim of the tub only to have it slip out of your grasp, our dishes, shelves, and corner caddies hold soaps and shampoos securely until you’re ready for them. Our shelves also come in different sizes and shapes.

You can also choose from our rainfall showerheads, hand-held showerheads, and showers with body jets that turn to shower into a truly thrilling experience.

Tile

Tile is a staple part of many bathrooms. It is not only beautiful, but it is extremely strong and durable. If it does crack or chip, it is easy to replace. All that’s needed is the batch number to replace a tile with one the exact color and pattern. Tile is also easy to keep clean, especially if it’s glazed. We are pleased to offer and install just the right type of tile to perfect your bathroom.

Bathtubs

Few things are better than a good, long soak in a tub. We offer a wide variety of gorgeous tubs- after all, we aren’t called “Columbus Bath Design” for nothing! Check out our assortment of slipper tubs, soaking tubs and tubs installed on platforms faced with beautiful tile. We even offer updated tub/shower combinations and walk-in-tubs for our older customers.

Showers

Some of our customers want both a tub and a shower. Others don’t like baths, and the tub just takes up space in their bathroom. At Columbus Bath Design, we can accommodate any of these wants. Check out our gallery for the wide variety of showers that we offer for your bathroom remodel. They not only have luxurious tiles, but shelves, special shower heads and jets and transparent or translucent frameless doors.

Vanities

Vanities also don’t need to be utilitarian anymore. Indeed, a beautiful vanity with a gleaming marble top, cut crystal knobs, and paneled doors and drawers can be the focal point of the bathroom.
