Beautiful Bathroom Design for Your Home

by Columbus Bath Design |December 15, 2023 |1 Comments | Bathroom Design |

What are the latest trends in bathroom design?

The latest trends in bathroom design include minimalist and modern styles, incorporating natural materials like wood and stone and neutral color palettes. Open shelving, freestanding tubs, and smart technology are popular for creating a beautiful and functional bathroom space.

The bathroom is an often-overlooked space in the house but can be a place of sanctuary and relaxation. It is where you start and end your day, and with some design inspiration, it can be transformed into a beautiful oasis. We will also discuss how lighting and textural elements can elevate the bathroom design and bring oceanic vibes into your bathroom. We have also listed some decor tips for an artful bathroom and how to choose suitable tiles for your bathroom. Join us as we take you through some stunning bathroom designs, including remodeling a guest bathroom, that will inspire you to create your spa at home.

Creating a Divided Bathroom Space

When designing your bathroom, consider creating a divided space to enhance functionality and aesthetics. Glass doors or partitions can visually separate different areas, such as vanity and bathing. For added convenience and privacy, incorporate a powder room or half-bath. Sliding doors or curtains offer flexibility and customization options for the divided space. You can optimize the flow and functionality of your bathroom’s interior design by designating specific zones for different activities. Remember to consider the right touches and the overall style of your bathroom, whether modern, rustic, or themed.

The Art of Designing a Picture-Perfect Bathroom

Consider the layout and flow of your bathroom to achieve a visually pleasing design. Incorporate elements of symmetry and balance for a harmonious look. Use statement pieces like a chandelier or artwork to create a focal point. Opt for a timeless and elegant aesthetic with a neutral color palette. Enhance the space by making use of natural light and strategically placed mirrors. By carefully considering these design elements, you can create a picture-perfect bathroom that is both visually appealing and functional. This lovely main bathroom features walls that don’t go up to the ceiling, making the room feel bigger and more open. Lots of glass enhances the look and bounces light around the space.

Transformative Power of Lighting

Use layered lighting techniques to create various moods and accentuate specific areas of the room. Incorporate natural light by adding skylights or larger windows if possible. Install dimmer switches to adjust brightness and establish a soothing ambiance. Consider lighting fixtures like sconces or pendant lights that match the bathroom’s overall style.

Textural Elements that Elevate the Bathroom Design

Add intrigue to your bathroom design by incorporating textured wallpaper or tiles. Create a rustic touch by using natural elements like stone or wood. To achieve a spa-like feel, indulge in soft and fluffy towels. Experiment with different textures in fixtures and vanities for added visual interest. Another way to elevate your bathroom design is by using mosaic tiles on the walls, which can add a unique and eye-catching element. By incorporating these textural elements, your bathroom will exude style and sophistication while providing a serene and inviting space.

Innovative Sink Designs for Your Bathroom

Innovative sink designs elevate the style and functionality of your bathroom. Floating sinks with concealed plumbing create a clean and modern aesthetic, while custom-made sinks seamlessly blend with the countertop for a cohesive look. Sinks with built-in storage compartments provide added organization, and wall-mounted sinks with adjustable height ensure accessibility for all. Water-saving features are also available for eco-conscious homeowners. By incorporating these innovative sink designs into your bathroom, you can enhance its overall appeal and create a practical and visually stunning space.

Incorporating Art into Your Bathroom

Enhance your bathroom design by incorporating art that reflects your style. Hang a statement piece as a focal point to draw attention and create visual interest. Create a gallery wall with small art pieces to add depth and personality. Display sculptures or ceramics on shelves or countertops for a unique touch. Use framed prints or photographs to personalize the space and tell a story. Consider incorporating art-inspired wallpaper that adds a pop of color and texture for a truly creative look. With these artistic touches, your bathroom will become a sanctuary of self-expression.

The Role of Tiling in Bathroom Design

Incorporating tiles into your bathroom design can elevate its overall aesthetic and functionality. Using marble accents is a great way to add intrigue and depth to your bathroom design. Marble wall tiles, like the ones offered by Artistic Tile, can serve as a stunning statement piece in your space. They pair beautifully with black fixtures and a dark gray vanity, creating a modern yet timeless look. Consider using large-format tiles that minimize grout lines to create a seamless and spacious feel. Incorporating patterned tiles can make a statement for a bold and eye-catching design.

Conclusion

In conclusion, designing a beautiful bathroom involves considering various elements such as the farmhouse charm, divided spaces, picture-perfect components, rustic mirrors, lighting, textural elements, unconventional sinks, multipurpose design, oceanic vibes, and incorporating art and tiling. Each aspect adds a unique touch to your bathroom and elevates its aesthetic appeal. By combining different design elements and paying attention to details, you can create a bathroom that is not only functional but also visually stunning. Explore these ideas and get inspired to transform your bathroom into a beautiful sanctuary that reflects your individuality and enhances your daily routine.

5 Tips to Make your Bathroom Look Bigger

5 Tips to Make your Bathroom Look Bigger

by Columbus Bath Design |November 15, 2022 |0 Comments | Bathroom tips | ,

Not everyone is blessed with a bathroom large enough to host a hot tub party. However, there are ways to make your compact bathroom look bigger without changing how it works. Better yet, all of these tips can be incorporated into your bathroom renovation plan when you work with Columbus Bath Design. Some of our tips can be used without upgrading your fixtures or redoing the tile.

Tip 1: Bigger Mirrors Double the Visual Size of the Bathroom

Even the smallest powder room will benefit from a beautiful big mirror. The bigger the mirror, the more dramatic the visual trick. Your eye will see twice the space in the reflective surface.

Instead of choosing a medicine chest, opt for a mirror that covers the entire wall behind the vanity. More than one person can put on their makeup, and you enjoy the added benefit of such a spacious look. Better yet, mirrors never require painting–just wipe away the dust!

At the same time, too much mirror can be overboard. Avoid covering a wall floor to ceiling with a mirror. Your guests may not like seeing themselves while using the facilities.

Tip 2: Single-Color Decor Creates an Open Concept Look

In any room, a sharp contrast will always draw the eye to bolder colors. Use a monochrome design for your small bathroom and watch it suddenly look bigger! Avoid bold geometric tiles, dramatic colors, and sharp angles. Light gray and white for all of your fixtures, flooring, and walls will help to create a spacious illusion. Select towels and rugs that are just a shade darker than your main color to add depth without crowding the room.

Also, reduce clutter on counters and shelving. Opt for drawers that maintain clean lines while hiding all the bits and bobs. And take out the hanging plant.

Tip 3: A Glass Shower Door Eliminates Obstacles

In a typical three or four-piece bathroom, the shower curtain or frosted shower door creates a visual wall. This makes the room look and feel even smaller.

Change it out with a clear glass door, and now you will see the entire room at a glance. If you want to keep the frosted door for privacy, connect the overhead shower light to the light switch. Every time somebody enters the bathroom, the light helps to expand the feel of the space.

For a truly epic walk-in shower, use glass as one wall instead of tile. You will feel like dancing as the glass connects the shower area to the rest of the spa suite.

Tip 4: Let the Sunshine In with Windows

Expand the horizon in your bathroom with a window next to the tub or shower. Natural sunlight tricks your mind into thinking you are in the great outdoors. With the curtains pulled back, you can see beyond the four walls of the bathroom which gives you the feeling of freedom.

You don’t need a full-size window to take advantage of this illusion. Even a high-mounted window over the top of the shower enclosure introduces that healthy sunlight into the space.

When no window is possible, use full-spectrum light bulbs in all your fixtures. The bright and warm wavelength is both relaxing and invigorating while illuminating every corner.

Tip 5: Floating Vanities Trick the Eyes

If you are always squeezing past the vanity, switching it out for a pedestal sink is a quick way to restore traffic patterns in a small bathroom. But when you simply need a visual trick to make the room feel bigger, look at a floating vanity.

Instead of having a cabinet that runs all the way to the floor, a floating vanity mounts to the wall and leaves open space underneath it. Your pipes are hidden, you still have space to put down the hair dryer, and many of these pieces include drawers for storage. Meanwhile, the room looks are feels roomier as less space is taken up by bulky furniture.

Bonus Tip: Enclosed Storage Conceals the Clutter

The over-the-toilet storage shelf is a masterpiece of optimizing space. However, the bottles, baskets, and towels that stuff it’s shelves actually make the bathroom feel even smaller. Opt for a unit that has small cupboard doors that conceal all your clutter.

A visitor to the bathroom will only see the clean, flat planes of the cabinets instead of being distracted by the collection of spa soaps. In our minds clutter is equated with “not enough room for all the stuff.” When things are stored, we perceive the room as spacious.

Five Ways A Bathroom Renovation Can Improve Your Life

by Columbus Bath Design |August 17, 2022 |0 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling | , ,

Are you thinking about updating your bathroom, but don’t want to deal with all the mess and upheaval just so it looks better? At Columbus Bath Design, we often perform a one-day refresh for tired bathrooms in the Lewis Center, OH area lending them a more contemporary appearance. But if you are frustrated by more than just outdated tile and a rose porcelain tub, a renovation could help you to love one of the busiest rooms in the house once again.

Two Sinks for Stress-Free MorningsBathroom Renovation

How many times have you bumped elbows with your spouse while brushing teeth and putting on makeup? Do the kids fight every morning over who is in the way? By replacing the sink with a dual-sink vanity, you take away a stress point from daily ablutions. This simple upgrade should not demand the addition of an extra drain. Many two-in-one vanities tie the drain from both sinks and direct the water down the existing pipe.

A larger vanity also opens up opportunities for added storage for towels, toilet paper, and toiletries. There would no longer be a need to head out to the hall closet for supplies. Changing the vanity will also encourage you to opt for a larger or second mirror. Remember to improve the wall lighting to eradicate those annoying shadows that always slow down your morning shave.

A Safe and Rejuvenating Bath or Shower

Whether you are getting a little older, have toddlers, or just find it difficult to climb into your tub for a quick wash, a bathroom renovation can replace that traditional tub with a walk-in shower or bath. Many people prefer a quick shower anyway. When your muscles ache, and you are tired at the end of a rough day, a walk-in design eliminates trip hazards and makes it easy for your guests to enjoy a refreshing wash. We can also add grab bars that blend in with your design and no-slip flooring.

A safer bathroom does not have to look like one found in a hospital or rehab facility.

Ease Aching Muscles with a Power Jet Tub or Shower

From high school athletes to workers in the trades to joints that suffer from arthritis, a jetted tub or power shower head with massaging pulses helps to ease pain at the end of the day. The best time to install a whirlpool or jetted tub is during a full renovation, as any changes to your plumbing and wiring will be completely hidden as you finish the job with fresh paint. Even if you aren’t recovering from a weekend run, those soothing bubbles make a fantastic addition to a night of self-care.

Eliminate Lingering Plumbing, Electrical, and Mold Problems

Does your sink make you mad every day as you have to wiggle the knob to shut off the constant drip? Perhaps one of the switches on the wall makes the lights flicker overhead. Are you always scrubbing around the toilet and cannot get rid of that black ring?

A bathroom renovation is a perfect chance to finally banish all those fixtures that don’t work quite as they should. But it doesn’t mean that you have to take the room back to the studs. Now is the time for your electrician to add a GFCI-protected outlet by the vanity that can prevent shorts and shocks. Any damage they do to the wall will be immediately fixed with a fresh tile or paint job.

If you own an older home, those may still be copper connections under the vanity. Changing old copper pipes out to PVC makes it easier for you or a plumber to repair any future problems with the pipes or the faucets. Also, the cost of replacing pipes will be less when the plumber is also adding connections for a new walk-in shower.

While ceramic tiles will always scrub clean even after decades of use, the grout will lose its water resistance and become a home for mold and mildew. Since you are replacing the fixtures, it is likely that you may need to do repairs or replace the existing floors. Finally, you can banish the stale odors and unsightly stains.

Save Water to Lower Your Bills and Care for the Earth

Did you know that toilets are often the last fixture to be replaced in a bathroom renovation? That is because it is near impossible to damage one beyond use and the porcelain will almost never lose its like-new shine. However, an old toilet uses six gallons of water with every flush. In a family of four, the toilet flushes an average of 25 to 40 times a day, using up to 85,000 gallons a year. Modern water-efficient toilets use just 1.6 gallons per flush, lowering your water usage to about 22,000 gallons per year. Whether you are on a well or city water, that can cut your water bill by half.

Modern shower heads and even faucets also offer water-efficient options, further lowering the stress your home puts on the local water supply.

8 Things You Need To Consider Before Designing The Perfect Bathroom

by Columbus Bath Design |July 6, 2022 |0 Comments | Bathroom Design | ,

Renovating a bathroom sounds like a smaller home improvement project. You should be able to knock that out with a quick call and be thrilled with the results, right? At Columbus Bath Design we encourage you to take a step back and give some serious thought to these eight important items before ripping out the old vanity.

Set a Budget for Your Bathroom RenovationBathroom Design

Every home has a bathroom. That means it is possible to do a complete bathroom update on a limited budget. At the same time, the sky is the limit if you dream of marble floors, a wet-room design, a rain shower with Bluetooth, and a heated floor. Choose a budget you can afford, so you can focus on finishes and fixtures that won’t break the bank.

Think About Time from Demolition to Move-In Date

You can make your bathroom look new with a weekend renovation by Columbus Bath Design. But if you are taking the room down to the studs, you could be looking at a month without a working restroom. Make sure you have options in place to minimize your discomfort during construction. Also, be prepared for delays. Do you have a second bathroom? Can you stay with friends or relatives? Maybe it is a good time to get a membership at a local gym.

Is there Space for the Walk-in Shower of Your Dreams?

The size of the bathroom will dictate its floor plan. The toilet needs two feet clear in front of it and at least eight inches on the sides. The door should not open onto a direct line of sight with the toilet. You can replace a shower and tub combo with a walk-in shower, but adding a fourth piece to a three-piece bathroom may not be feasible. Use an online design tool to help you see exactly how everything will work, Then you can order pieces that are guaranteed to slide into place.

What Still Works and Looks Good in Your Old Bathroom?

Are you dreaming of stone floor tiles, but the budget doesn’t have room for a complete re-do? You may be able to find significant savings by keeping older fixtures like the toilet and tub. Fashion does not significantly affect these pieces. You can update their appearance by replacing the taps and shower head. New wall tiles or a quick shower enclosure will introduce contemporary colors. Your off-white or white ceramic fixtures will suddenly take on a fresh look and last for another 10 to 20 years.

Selecting Finishes that Add Value to Your Home

It is tempting to design a bathroom bursting with color, sparkling chandeliers, and wild patterns. But remember that these choices will likely stay with the house for a decade or longer. When it comes time to sell, you won’t want to change out the mosaic tiles and a gold sink for something that appeals to a wider audience. It is wise to select flooring, paint, off-white fixtures, and lighting with a neutral palette and traditional design. Add sparks of interest using art, shower curtains, rugs, and linens to give the bathroom your sense of style.

Avoiding Fads that Will Look Out of Date in Another Year

The bright color of blue or sparkling metallic paint that is trending on social media today will not make you smile after a few months of using your new bathroom. Your bathroom will provide the same function in twenty years whether it is in style or not. If you see something wild at the design center that encourages an impulsive decision, wait a day and come back. If you can see yourself still loving the new look long after fashions change, go for it.

Adjusting the Height and Size of Fixtures for Your Comfort

Are you a few inches taller than the average person? Think about investing in a vanity mounted a couple of inches higher, so you are not slouching in order to reach the faucet. Ask about taller and shorter toilets, so your morning ablutions can be completed in total comfort. Ask your bath installer about the height of the shower head, step-over height for the tub, and the perfect position for your mirror.

Working with a Contractor that Listens to Your Needs and Desires

Finally, take some time to get to know the people that will be creating your new bathroom. You want the new space to be your personal oasis, not just a cookie-cutter version. Like our crews at Columbus Bath Design, your contractor should verify every color, paint, tile, and fixture choice with you. They should provide a clear timeline and show you what you can expect from day one. If a potential contractor cannot clearly communicate with you, it might be wise to look for somebody else.

Now that you have a budget, created a plan, researched, and selected potential fixtures, it is time to make it all happen. Give us a call at Columbus Bath Design in Lewis Center, OH. We can create a complete custom spa or breathe new life into your powder room with a fast one-day renovation.

How Small Black Bathroom Designs Can Brighten Your Life

by Columbus Bath Design |May 10, 2022 |0 Comments | Bathroom Design | , ,

It can seem counter-intuitive to think that using black in a small bathroom is a bright idea. However, black is once again trending in home decor and provides the perfect solution for a small bathroom that lacks personality.

A Story Of Contrasting ColorsMonochromatic Black Bathroom

Since black is the complete absence of any color, when you use it as the base hue in your bathroom design, any other tint will instantly bring the room to life. Black walls or flooring put an instant spotlight on the gilt mirror, alabaster tiles, or a window filled with small plants. Instead of staring at the whole canvas, black eliminates distractions and leaves only the premium finishes on display.

Building an Intimate Spa Experience

When you use black for a small powder room off the back hall, it creates an escape from the rest of the home. Your guests enjoy a heightened sense of privacy as the room looks so different from the social spaces. Paired with luxury towels, handmade soaps, and bespoke decor, you find restful elegance.

Paint the Walls Black and Change the Entire Vintage Space

Perhaps your small bathroom features beige fixtures and rose or sage green walls leftover from a past decade. There is nothing wrong with the toilet and sink, but how do you bring the room into the 21st century? Black walls will change everything without breaking the bank. Add a fresh set of colorful towels, and it’s like a whole new room. Open a can of beige paint and a black vanity becomes a bold statement.

A Neutral Slate that Will Embrace Changing Trends

What happens when this year’s dusky blue-gray becomes a dated statement? Since black is a neutral color, you can pair it with any other color in the world, and it will never clash. Keep your small bathroom current by switching out the linens and accent art while the black anchors the space for an always-evolving space.

Classic Black Designs that are Making a Big Splash

Have you ever visited a luxury hotel built during the first half of the 20th century? The Art Deco movement embraced the use of large geometric patterns, which often included black and white tiles in bathrooms. It remains a flawless choice for flooring and wall panels. Go tiny with intricate mosaics or create an accent wall covered in oversized hexagons. Search for wallpapers that use gold to define the repeating black shapes. When matched with cotton rugs and fine china accents, the small bathroom becomes a study in elegance and art.

Black: A Bold Statement Against Timeless White Fixtures

How do you make an ordinary two-piece bathroom with white fixtures more interesting? While pale colors help the porcelain pieces fade into the background, your pedestal sink becomes a piece of artwork when standing against a black tile floor and textured wall. Its gleaming surface invites you to touch its sleek surface.

Your guests will be less likely to leave behind the rings they took off while washing hands as the platinum piece will stand out against the monotone environment.

What About a Black Sink and Toilet?

It is possible to custom order your fixtures in black. Switch up your design with bamboo flooring, jade walls, and a large beveled mirror for a unique twist. Imagine a gold faucet gleaming against an ebony porcelain background. Rich, lush, and dramatic.

Selecting Glamorous Lighting Fixtures to Complete the Black Bathroom

If you love a crisp modern look, consider an all-white or clear glass square sconces that provide brilliant illumination. Should you prefer a bit of glitz, a small gold chandelier dripping with crystals will bring glitter to the room. The black floors and walls become a study in spotlights and shadows. Go minimal and choose recessed lighting perfectly positioned over the sink and toilet.

Pairing Your Black Bath with a Dramatic Choice in Quartz or Granite Countertops

Did you fall in love with a bold piece of stone at the bathroom design center that features large blocks or stripes of black? Placed on a black vanity with a stone sink, you can opt for a medium gray wall and lighter gray flooring for that contemporary style that supports a relaxing vibe. Add a matching stone shelf over the toilet to display small ceramic pieces and store some extra white towels.

Columbus Bath Design Can Make Your Small Black Bathroom Come True

If you are staring at a tired and dated two-piece bathroom and want to breathe new life into it, give our design specialists at Columbus Bath Design a call! We will be happy to visit your home and provide an estimate to get rid of that aging design and add any color you desire, including black, for a modern finish that complements your personal style.

Start with natural stone flooring in granite or marble with gray-blue swirls setting the stage. Select a vanity in deep gray. Add a pop of light blue paint on the walls. Finally, line your tub and shower enclosure in glass subway tiles with just a hint of blue in its depths. Royal blue towels, flowers, and floor mats add to the dramatic presentation.

Textured Stone Wall Tiles Add a Natural Element to Your Blue Concept

Hand Painted Custom Geometric Floral Tiles Create an Art Gallery in Your Shower

Are you all about geometric patterns? Build intrigue with a custom tile in a repeating geometric floral pattern. The bold, dark blue base color is highlighted by the white line art. As a focus wall at the back of the shower, it makes the small and long bathroom feel a little more spacious.

Talk a Walk Down a Babbling Brook with River Rock Floors and Sky Blue Tiles

Have you ever looked at the pebbles at the bottom of a brook? They tend to come in various shades of gray, blue, and brown. Now, just imagine those round rocks adorning the floor of your walk-in shower. Randomize your selection of green and blue tiles to mimic the dappled sunshine through overhanging branches. Don’t forget to add in some clear glass accents for that sparkle of sunshine.

Embrace Your Rustic Side with Ceramic Tile with an Aged Wood Grain Appearance

Did you love the appearance of an old building with weathered unpainted siding? Introduce the trending look of aged wood into your blue bathroom. Look for a tile with white as the main character, but look deeper into its oxidized appearance. Are there flecks of blue mixed in? Picture the wood look-alike tile on the wall while you add more blue accents with rugs, shower curtain, and countertop accessories.

What’s Your Favorite Bathroom Tile Design?

by Columbus Bath Design |August 1, 2021 |0 Comments | Bathroom Design, Bathroom Remodeling Materials | ,

Today’s bathrooms are luxurious spaces where the home owner’s personality is showcased. Yes, there are traditional tiles that are and will always be in style, but now more than ever, interior designers are celebrating big, bold, and colorful tiles. The more colorful and creative, the better. Here are some of our favorite tile designs to refresh a bathroom.

Matte Tiles Are Having A Moment

We’ll start with an all-time favorite with an updated twist…matte tiles. Matte tiles that are free from gloss and polish offer a subtle yet fashion statement that will complement any sized bath. They also provide a natural element with dimension. Matte tiles are perfect for flooring because they are easy to clean, maintain and look absolutely amazing with other elements in the room. Go for one color like gray or brown or mix different shades together for a more modern look.

Patterns, Patterns, Patterns

Big, bold, colorful patterns are the go-to tiles if you like to step up your bathroom design. Think throwback top to bottom geometric patterns that go from the floor right into the shower stall. Or if you prefer, use the geometric tiles to simply and beautifully add accents to your bathroom. For example, only cover one wall with tiles or a special spot like a backsplash behind the sink. Then, tone the pattern down with neutral tiles that help the eye enjoy the view. Team your perfect patterns with a floating sink, open-air tub to complete the luxurious design.

Retro Subway Tile

Subway tile or metro tiles as savvy designers call them provides an industrial edge like no other. Subway tiles are classic, timeless and with the right grout can enhance a bathroom’s overall aura. Most common in neutral white or beige, metro tiles are a safe, yet stylish selection for a modern decor enthusiast. Plus if you want this look in your home but are hoping for a different color, larger-sized tiles and more colors will be more common on the market moving forward. The great thing about subway tile is that you can easily incorporate other tile styles and sizes into your design for a one-of-a-kind look.

Wooden Tile Would Be Nice

The natural wood look is having a major return to interior design and that includes tiles for the bathroom. Wood walls and wood floors together provide an almost sauna style and spa inspiration. Any wood goes too, including cherry, maple, or oak, or a combination of multiple kinds of wood will add texture and dimension. Today’s wood tiles are easy to care for, clean, and maintain making them extra popular. Some might question, “Is this actually the bathroom,” when they enter the room, but after the second take, they will instantly fall in love with this fashion-forward appeal.

Marble Adds Unique Beauty

When you think of marble you think, high quality, super stunning, and almost artistic. Each marble tile features a unique design that comes together like an artist’s canvas on the floor, in the shower, on the basin, or any other spot in the bathroom. In the past marble was reserved for expensive homes and mansions that were upscale with large master bathrooms. Now the smallest bathroom can look amazing when styled with this natural stone’s unique beauty.

We Love Metal Tiles

Metal tiles in the bathroom! Yes and yes! Metal tiles are popping up everywhere and making bathrooms look modern and classic at the same time. Metal tiles reflect the light providing a shiny and unexpected design for the bathroom. They are available in a variety of shapes and designs providing a “sky’s the limit” style appeal. They are versatile and add depth to a room that is powerful and pretty at the same time. Metal tiles can be used as a ceiling, cover a single wall, adorn the wall behind the toilet and tub. The sky’s the limit in the bathroom with metal tiles.

Sensational Speckled Terrazzo

Textured tiles are all the rage, but it is terrazzo or speckled tiles created from fragments of many tiles types, that are the hot tiles for updated bathrooms. Each tile can include a combination of glass, marble, quartz, and even metal. They are understated, have style for days, and look amazing in any sized bathroom space. Terrazzo tiles are an alternative to more expensive marble and granite, and they look just as rich and modern. The options are as endless as your imagination and tastes.

The Greener, the Better

Relaxing and spending more time at home is growing in popularity. We are enjoying our homes more than ever and want to relax while there, especially in the bathroom. The color green and shades of this color that are found in nature are finding their way into our hearts and our bathroom’s interiors. It is a calming color and complements any colors that it is combined with. Cover the floor with monochromatic green tiles, or mix different shades of green to add texture and dimension. Then add nature-inspired accents like bamboo and rattan.

The Dark Side

Today, dark drama is working it in the bathroom arena. Very dark is very dramatic and uber chic. Think big, black or dark gray tiles that cover the floor. Then, even bigger, darker-toned tiles work their way up the wall. It sounds like designers are going over to the dark side, but this edgy look works tremendously well. This look will work best with larger-sized rooms with natural lighting and higher ceilings but isn’t out of the question for smaller spaces.

Refresh Your Home with a Remodel

by Columbus Bath Design |March 27, 2020 |29 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling | , , , ,

bathroom remodelThe effects of remodeling your bathroom go far beyond simply making it look more appealing.

Research from the National Association of Realtors confirms that more than 75 percent of homeowners who remodel their bathrooms want to be in their homes more. More than 65 percent say they actually have more fun after a bathroom remodeling project.

But, wait…there’s more!

The data also shows that, if done properly, at least 50 percent of your investment is recouped with the increase in your home’s value.

How extensive are bathroom remodels?

One of the beauties of deciding on a bathroom remodeling project is that it can be as little or expansive as you wish. You can gut the entire room and start again, or merely add a few updated features.

Here are some of the most popular bathroom remodeling projects that pack the most punch.

  • Replacing the vanity: Many homeowners underestimate the value of a vanity. In addition to housing the sink, your vanity provides storage space and sets the stage for the rest of your bathroom. When not installed properly, it can be easy for mold to attach itself to your vanity, which can lead to cabinet damage as well.

You’ve got a host of options for vanity replacements. For example, open vanities give your bathroom an uncluttered appeal. If you’re more into the antique look, we can help you use repurposed furniture that gives a fun take on a traditional look. If your budget allows, we can also help you with a custom-designed vanity.

  • New flooring: In the bathroom, what’s underneath your feet is definitely important. Choosing to replace the flooring is often one of the least expensive – yet most impactful – remodeling options for your bathroom.

Here at Columbus Bath Design, we recommend using tile, vinyl or wood. Another good contemporary option is to include a radiant-heat mat beneath the flooring for a more comfortable feeling year-round.

  • Replacing your tub or shower: Whether you want a deep tub for a soaking bubble bath or a walk-in shower (which is very trendy these days), there are benefits to both. Some people decide to ditch their tub altogether because they use it so sparingly. Others wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing.

We’ve also noticed a growing need for walk-in tubs. Even though many independent seniors prefer this, it can be a good choice for practically anyone. Walk-in tubs are ideal for homeowners with mobility problems.

  • Improved lighting: This is an often-overlooked detail for most bathrooms in general. With today’s technology, though, the lighting scheme in your bathroom can be customized to your tastes. In addition to selecting the light color, newer features give the ability to adjust the level of the light intensity.

How disruptive is the bathroom remodeling process?

This is where the decision to hire Columbus Bath Design really pays off. In most cases, we’re able to have your bathroom remodeling project completed in just one day. If the project is extensive, the workload may spill over into a second day, but that’s not the norm.

bathroom remodelHere’s how we like to work:

  1. Once you make contact with us, our design experts will talk with you about your needs and ideas for your remodeling project.
  2. With you, we begin exploring options that best suit your ideas. We’ll talk about the price range for each object so that there’s no sticker shock down the line.
  3. Once everyone is on the same page, we’ll provide you with an estimate of the project costs. At this stage, we can also work with you in tweaking aspects of the project to make sure it fits your budget.
  4. We then order the materials and select a day and time for the installation.
  5. Before the installation, our installers will visit your home to size-up the situation and identify any potential obstacles that could get in the way. Doing this means there’s no wasted time on the day of installation.
  6. Your installation will be handled by one or two installers who will remain on the job until it’s finished. If the project does stretch into another day, the same installers will return to finish the job.

Keep in mind that at any point in the project you can make adjustments. We’re prepared for this and can usually make changes on the fly.

All You Need to Know About Our Free In-Home Estimates

by Columbus Bath Design |February 14, 2020 |1 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling Cost | , ,

Whether you call it a lavatory, washroom, the office or the loo, the odds are good your day begins and ends in the bathroom. Because you spend so much time in that one room, remodeling it to suit your tastes and comfort makes perfect sense.

Here at Columbus Bath Design, we do one thing: bathroom remodeling…and we do it very well. We have the expertise, training and materials to transform your bathroom wishes into reality.

The short process of getting the bathroom you want begins with our completely free, no-obligation estimate.

In this post, we’ll give insight on what you can expect during our free in-home estimates, our overall bathroom remodeling process, and the compelling reasons for why a bathroom renovation is a smart investment.

What’s An In-House Estimate Experience Like?

Many of our customers get inspirational ideas by visiting our showroom at 8596 Cotter Street in Lewis Center on the North Side of Columbus.

If you already have an idea of what you want, call us at 614-721-3883.

During our conversation, we’ll listen and talk about your bathroom remodeling needs. Because we value transparency, our feedback and advice will be completely honest.

Once everyone is on the same page with the goal, we’ll then schedule an in-home visit so that our installers can size-up the project in person. We pride ourselves on being as non-intrusive as possible.

During this stage, our designers will also work with you to hone your selection of fixtures, including:

  • New flooring options
  • Shower and bathtub choices
  • Vanities
  • Faucets

Keep in mind that our estimates are completely itemized for your convenience, so you can adjust the plan on the fly.

How Do I Schedule My In-Home Estimate?

We’ll be happy to take your reservation via phone 614-721-3883, email or online.

Because we know you’re busy, we welcome appointments throughout the week and during the evenings.

What Can I Expect During the Remodeling Process Itself?

We’ve been remodeling bathrooms for more than 20 years, and we have everything down to a streamlined process. Once your in-home estimate is completed, we’re usually ready to get to work.

Finalization of plans: We’re accustomed to last-minute changes, so if you have any final touches before the project begins in earnest, our flexibility makes it easy for them to be added.

Scheduling of the installation: Once all the materials and plans are locked down, we’ll schedule a specific time and day for the actual installation that suits your timetable. Remember, we do not hire subcontractors. Instead, Columbus Bath Design team members carry out all of the work.

Before the actual installation, our designers and installers will huddle to discuss any unique challenges and solutions on your project. This step enables us to hit the ground running once our installers arrive at your home.

Day of installation: Two installers will arrive on-site and stay until the job is complete. While most of our bathroom remodeling projects take only one day, some take two days to complete. During the consultation stage, we’ll give you our best estimate on how long the project should take. If it does take longer than one day, the same two installers who worked on your project the first day will return on the second.

in-home estimatesIs Remodeling My Bathroom Really Worth It?

Whether you merely need a new vanity, new tiling or a complete bathroom makeover, the decision to invest in the remodeling of your bathroom is a wise one.

You increase your home’s value: Throughout its life, your home will experience wear and tear. Because of the moisture created by hot water, it’s likely your bathroom will appear older than the rest of the house. Improving the condition of your bathroom is a proven way to boost the overall value of your home.

You save money with new, energy-efficient upgrades: Did you know that nearly half of all daily water use for the average home comes from toilet and shower use? New showerheads, toilets and other fixtures are designed to save you money in water and energy costs.

Any plumbing issues are addressed: Plumbing problems in the bathroom can easily lead to more intrusive – and expensive – repairs on down the road. During your bathroom renovation, any plumbing issues will be taken care of during the installation.

A cozy getaway is created: We all need a place to “get away from it all.” By remodeling your bathroom, an easily accessible and relaxing escape is always within your reach.

Mold issues are eliminated: The environment created by a steady flow of water creates the perfect breeding ground for mold. With new tile and grout, your mold issues are removed.

Why Should I Select Columbus Bath Design?

We understand that a remodeling project in your home can be an intimidating thought. Using our more than two decades of professional experience, our bathroom remodeling projects are smooth, affordable and usually completed in just one day.

Since everyone has their own style, our designers will work with you to find the perfect bathroom solution that fits your flair and budget.

Planning Your Custom Bathroom Remodel for the New Year

by Columbus Bath Design |December 20, 2019 |0 Comments | Bathroom Remodeling | , ,

custom bathroomLet’s face it, it’s easier to keep one big resolution rather than several smaller ones. That’s why you might want to bump planning a custom bathroom remodel to the top of your list for 2020.  Whether you’ve been thinking about swapping out the dated tile, updating your fixtures, enlarging the shower or doing a complete remodel, tell yourself that this is the year you will finally make it happen. And we can’t wait to come along for the ride!

New year, new goals, new focus

The key to successful goal-setting is not to be hasty when you do it. The most action-worthy resolutions are usually the ones you’ve thought through and are willing to dedicate your time and energy to. Whatever you do, don’t make a resolution on the fly after too many toasts on New Year’s Eve. If you’re not totally committed to your goal, the odds of staying motivated are not in your favor.

So now your resolution ‘list’ has one single goal: Remodel the Bathroom. You’ve been putting things off, making do with that tiny shower, putting up with that ugly green tile. It’s time to bite the bullet and call in the professionals who can help you research, plan, design and create a custom bathroom you love with the features you’ve longed for.

Are you all about function? Think about enlarging the shower, modernizing the tile, changing out the countertops and adding niches, drawers and cubbies for plenty of storage.

Love a spa-like vibe? Think about a decadent soaking tub, stunning vessel sinks, luxurious lighting and a  spa-like multi-jet shower showcased by a gorgeous mosaic tile accent wall.

Concerned about safety? Think about converting a shower to a tub, or a tub to a shower. We do a lot of walk-in tubs as well – the perfect solution for aging in place. You might want to think about grab bars, hi-rise toilets and other safety features to make your new bath work for your specific needs and situation.
