Preventing Senior Falls in the Bathroom With Walk-in Tubs

By | Uncategorized, Walk-in Bathtubs | No Comments

Preventing Senior Falls in the Bathroom With Walk-in Tubs-walk-in-tub-300x222According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), more than one in three seniors over age 65 fall each year and 80% of those falls happen in the bathroom. NIA says that equipping homes with necessary bathroom safety precautions can reduce senior falls, keep them out of the emergency room and possibly extend their life.

One important preventative method recommended by physicians is installing a shower or tub that is built around the unique needs of elderly adults. Walk-In Tubs, for example, offer comfortable seating, grab bars, low step up and other senior-friendly features.

At Luxury Bath of Ohio, we are happy to offer walk-in bathtubs to seniors living around Columbus, Ohio. We can replace your current, high-sided bathtub or shower with one that has a leak-proof side door. This allows seniors to still enjoy a soothing soak with easier, safer access and less risk of falling. Our walk-in tubs can be fully customized to specific wants and needs with options like a built in seat, whirlpool jets and safety equipment, such as ADA grab bars.

Full Bathroom Remodel in Upper Arlington, Ohio

By | Customer Testimonials, Full Bathroom Remodel, Uncategorized | No Comments

Older homes around Columbus, like those in Upper Arlington for example, present challenges to maximizing space, especially in the bathroom. One Upper Arlington homeowner that we recently worked with wanted to remodel her second bathroom and called us to help her accomplish this.

Jane wanted to fully remodel her second bathroom to create something entirely different. Her and her husband enjoy an updated bathroom in their bedroom and wanted to convert her second bathroom’s old bathtub into a new shower for her kids. Luxury Bath removed the old bathtub, installed a walk-in shower, and moved some walls to add extra space to the bathroom.

Jane didn’t realize the entire bathroom could be remodeled like it was and says it feels twice as big now. Our bathroom remodeling experts were able to come in and suggest updates that she didn’t originally realize were possible. Because of the extra space created, Jane was able to order a larger sink cabinet for her kid’s new bathroom.

Jane has renovated other parts of her Upper Arlington home and wanted to keep a consistent theme with the bathroom remodel. With the help of Jane and our designers, the new bathroom was able to keep with the theme of the rest of the house. The entire remodeling project took about one week with minimal disruption to Jane’s family.

How a Tub to Shower Bathroom Conversion Works

By | Bathroom Remodeling, Bathtub Conversions, Uncategorized | No Comments

If you have a bathtub in your bathroom, then you have the space for a walk-in shower.

How a Tub to Shower Bathroom Conversion Works-Grand-16-225x300So many of us use our bathtubs to shower. Converting that tub to a shower just makes sense. A tub to shower conversion is a cost effective way to remodel your bathroom and maximize your space. A standard sized bathtub (5 feet) takes up more space than people realize and provides a nice space to install an amazing shower.

Plumbing

Good news! Your plumbing will not have to be replaced. Bathtubs typically have right or left drains and a shower pan can be installed with a right or left drain as well. Once the shower pan is installed and leveled, they are sloped so they drain properly.

Acrylic Shower Walls

There are 22 different options when it comes to acrylic shower wall systems. They are installed from floor to ceiling and have lots of options for plumbing fixtures – hand held and shower head. The acrylic we use is easy to clean. We use a 4-layer high-molecular acrylic that is the most durable, chemical resistant acrylic available. It also has the added benefit of Microban, which is the same ingredient that Colgate puts into their toothpaste to kill gingivitis. So, not only is it safe to ingest, but it also kills bacteria on contact between cleanings.

With tub to shower conversions, we are able to take out an old bathtub and install a new walk-in shower with plumbing, walls, fixtures and accessories in just one day.

Stop dreaming about the pictures in magazines with amazing showers with multiple shower heads, body sprays, and benches…now you know that you have the space in your  own bathroom to create a shower like this too!

Tips for Remodeling Your Bathroom on a Budget

A small budget shouldn’t stop you from having the bathroom of your dreams!

Here are some things to consider:

Buy Supplies Yourself

Tips for Remodeling Your Bathroom on a Budget-DSC_0561-300x198The cost of bathroom remodeling materials can definitely add up. These costs can easily be reduced though by doing the shopping yourself. Also look for special deals and closeouts on discontinued items. These will be much cheaper and can save you big time on budget!

Start With a Small Project

Simply a new coat of paint can bring new life to your old bathroom. It can even make a cramped space feel bigger if you use the right colors. Make sure you spend some time thinking about what colors you like best because this could be a starting point to choosing a whole new color scheme for your bathroom and accessories!

Another option is a beadboard. This is easy to install, is inexpensive and can even offer extra protection to the lower half of your bathroom walls. A beadboard can also jazz up an empty bathroom wall. Remember to consider your color scheme here!

Look For Coupons or Special Deals

Tips for Remodeling Your Bathroom on a Budget-250offDon’t be shy about asking about special deals and looking around for coupons to save even more money. We offer a special coupon to our customers to save $250 off a bathroom remodeling project in Columbus, Ohio.

Accessories and Hardware

Tired of your old towel bars or robe hooks? This bathroom hardware is easy and inexpensive to replace. You can even buy a whole matching set to pull your theme or color scheme together. Also, think of other ways to add functional accessories to your bathroom. A shelving unit or cabinet above the toilet looks nice and provides extra storage for towels. If you already have several cabinets and shelving units in your bathroom, consider refinishing them to add a fresh look to your bathroom.

Bathtub Liners

Installing a bathtub liner is a great, inexpensive alternative to purchasing and installing a whole new tub. Remember, it is best to work with a professional to install a bathtub liner to get the best installation and warranty. Bathtub liners are custom fit to your bathtub and look and feel like a brand new tub!

See, bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to cost a small fortune! We hope these tips will help you create a brand new bathroom in 2014.

That’s why we want to introduce you to a long-lasting option you’ll want to consider when you are planning your bathroom remodeling project – the Onyx Collection.

The Onyx Difference

The big deal in bathrooms these days is tile. And why not? Tile adds the right touch of elegance to an area. Our Onyx Collection goes the extra mile because Onyx has the look of tile combined with the ease of installation and cleanup of an overlay. Onyx products have very few pieces, so installation is a breeze. And by eliminating grout lines, the possibilities of leaking and cracking are reduced. And even better, The Onyx Collection is made in the USA!

Onyx Can Make Your Bathroom Beautiful

One of the best aspects of bathroom remodeling is the fact that the only limits are your imagination and budget. We’ll help you work within your budget, and the Onyx Collection allows you to let your imagination run wild. Our Onyx bathroom remodeling products have a composition of two-thirds alumina trihydrate and one-third polyester resin. Basically, the same stuff that makes up the roofing material and electrical wire coating on your house and the plastics in your car are at work to bond your bathroom materials together.  It’s tough stuff…but it’s also easy to clean. Non-abrasive household cleaners will do the trick. You can even use kitchen dishwashing soap to keep your new Onyx bathroom sparkling.
